Scientifically Developed

Constac has undergone a scientific research and development process based on traditional Ayurvedic principles and modern clinical evaluations. The medicine has been perfected with regular patient follow-ups and feedbacks for a period of over 5 years at our specialized proctology hospitals. It all started as a single formulation with a combination of a few herbs in the powdered form. It eventually evolved into uniquely processed granules in two different formulations having adequately proportioned essential herbs, in a mild and a strong form to treat patients suffering from different degrees of constipation. This was a pioneering effort in its category when for the first time two ayurvedic formulations Constac and Constac Plus were being offered to patients, with varying degrees of constipation (mild and chronic) for a period of over 4 years now.

Healing Herbs of Constac

Triphala
Combination of the three fruits Hirada, Behada and Amla has several medicinal properties and is widely used in many Ayurvedic formulations, but it has an important role in the process of digestion and excretion, making it an important ingredient of Constac.
Hirada (Black Myrobalan fruit)
An important herb in the Ayurvedic formulation of Triphala. It provides bulking fiber to the stool and acts as a mild laxative easing the movement of stool in the colon. It also enhances digestion and increases the absorption of nutrients during the digestive process.
Behada (Beleric Myrobalan fruit)

Another important herb in the Ayurvedic formulation of Triphala. It is a mild laxative and a liver detoxifier. It also aids in the treatment of digestive disorders like indigestion and constipation.

Amla (Indian Gooseberry fruit)
It is considered as a rejuvenating fruit balancing the three ‘doshas’ – ‘Vata’, ‘Kapha’ and ‘Pitta.’ It is one of the richest sources of Vitamin C in nature and boosts immunity. It enhances the digestive process by secretion of gastric juices and it also facilitates greater nutrient absorption. It also has high fiber content which adds bulk to the stool and regularises the bowel movement, taking care of constipation.
Isabgol (Psyllium husk)
It is an important herb in the treatment of mild constipation as it contains both soluble and insoluble fibers. The soluble fiber is hygroscopic and absorbs water. It significantly increases the bulk of stool. It also moistens and softens the consistency of stool. This enables proper bowel movement, easing constipation.
Mulethi (Liquorice roots)
It is a naturally sweet herb known to be effective in the treatment of various digestive ailments ranging from acidity, acid reflux, heartburn, inflammation and ulceration of the stomach. Its anti-oxidant properties help in protecting the liver from toxins and free radicals. It is also known for its mild laxative properties which aid in bowel movement, relieving constipation.
Ajwain (Carom seeds)
This herb is commonly regarded for its taste but also has medicinal properties. It has significant carminative properties which makes it an important constituent of the formulation. It is effective in the treatment of flatulence, bloating and gas associated with constipation.
Badishep (Fennel seeds)
This herb is well known for its aroma and sweet taste. It also has medicinal properties which are greatly regarded for its role in proper digestion and assimilation of food. It also plays an important role as a carminative in the treatment of flatulence, bloating and gas associated with constipation. It has a high fiber content which absorbs water and softens stool to aid in bowel movement easing constipation.
Elaichi (Cardamom seeds)
This herb is commonly used as a spice for its fragrant aroma, essential oils and great taste. Apart from its culinary significance, it has also been credited for its great medicinal values. It improves appetite, speeds up digestion and is also found to be an effective antacid as it soothes the mucosal lining of the stomach. It has carminative properties which help in the treatment of flatulence, bloating and gas associated with constipation.
Sonamukhi (Senna leaves)
It is an essential herb which has a significant role in the treatment of constipation. Senna leaves act by stimulating the colonic muscles and induces peristaltic contractions to move the fecal matter in the colon for a smooth evacuation.
Narikel Lavan
It is a classical Ayurvedic preparation of Narikela (coconut) and saindhava lavana (rock salt). It has a calming effect on the ‘doshas’ of ‘Vata’ and ‘Pitta.’ It is highly effective in the treatment of hyperacidity, gastritis and abdominal pain which are common symptoms of constipation. It also helps in maintaining the normal body electrolyte balance.
Erand Tel (Castor oil)
It softens the stool and lubricates the intestines preventing loss of moisture from the intestinal walls. It also stimulates bowel movements and reduces the strain on intestines. This enables an easy passage of stool relieving constipation.
